Choosing the right type of licence is of immense importance for the company in order to avoid economic and legal risks. Knowledge of the legal principles of licence law is indispensable.

In order to create a solid foundation, especially with regard to the legal aspects of licensing, the course first introduces the strategic approach that is essential for the preparation and drafting of optimised software licence agreements. In particular, after defining the needs of the company, the course will provide pointers for the preparation of contract negotiations in order to favourably influence the conclusion of the contract. The currently much-discussed indirect use of software and open source compliance, which has become increasingly important in the context of the current debate surrounding the log4j security vulnerability, will also be addressed.

The second part of the course deals with the implementation of licence agreements as part of operational licence and contract management. In addition to the legal aspects of implementing such an agreement, the focus is on the organisational measures required for the contract-compliant implementation of software licence agreements.

The training is based on German law.
