The course provides basic knowledge about performance-relevant structures and options in the SQL Server environment. Approaches for performance troubleshooting are discussed and the information provided by Microsoft as "on-board resources" (e.g. via dynamic administration views) and tools for the creation of performance monitoring and trace logs and their evaluation are presented. An introduction to the index structures and index types of MS SQL Server and the necessary maintenance and possible optimisation measures is also covered. Basics and approaches are discussed and further steps are shown.
The course serves to acquire practical knowledge and to exchange experiences. Manufacturer certification is not provided.
