This course teaches Network Engineers how to design, implement and maintain Azure networking solutions. This course will cover: Designing, implementing and managing basic Azure network infrastructure, hybrid network connections, load balancing traffic, network routing, private access to Azure services, network security and monitoring. Learn how to design and implement a secure, reliable network infrastructure in Azure and how to establish hybrid connectivity, routing, private access to Azure services and monitoring in Azure.

In this course, participants will gain the following skills:
  • Design, implement and manage hybrid network connectivity.
  • Design and implement the central Azure network infrastructure
  • Design and implement routing and load balancing in Azure
  • Secure and monitor networks
  • Design and implement private access to Azure services
Introduction to Azure virtual networks:
  • About Azure Virtual Networks
  • Configuring public IP services
  • Designing name resolution for a virtual network
  • Enabling cross-VNet connectivity with peering
  • Implementing traffic routing for virtual networks
  • Configure Internet access with Azure Virtual Network NAT
Design and implement hybrid networks:
  • Designing and implementing an Azure VPN Gateway
  • Connecting networks with site-to-site VPN connections
  • Connecting devices on networks with point-to-site VPN connections
  • Connecting remote resources using Azure Virtual WAN
  • Creating a Virtual Network Appliance (NVA) in a Virtual Hub
Design and implement Azure ExpressRoute:
  • About Azure ExpressRoute
  • Designing an ExpressRoute deployment
  • Configuring peering for an ExpressRoute deployment
  • Networking an ExpressRoute connection to a VNet
  • Connecting geographically dispersed networks with ExpressRoute Global Reach
  • Improve the performance of data paths between networks with ExpressRoute FastPath
  • Troubleshoot ExpressRoute connectivity issues
Load balancing for non-HTTP(S) traffic in Azure:
  • Exploring load balancing
  • Designing and implementing Azure load balancing with the Azure Portal
  • Exploring Azure Traffic Manager
Load balancing HTTP(S) traffic in Azure:
  • Designing Azure Application Gateway
  • Configuring Azure Application Gateway
  • Designing and Configuring Azure Front Door

  • Protecting your virtual networks in the Azure Portal
  • Deploy Azure DDoS Protection using the Azure Portal
  • Deploying Network Security Groups using the Azure Portal
  • Designing and deploying Azure Firewall
  • Working with Azure Firewall Manager
  • Implementing Azure Web Application Firewall under Azure Front Door
Designing and implementing private access to Azure services:
  • Explaining VNET service endpoints
  • Defining the Private Link service and private endpoint
  • Integrating Azure Private Link with DNS
  • Integrating Azure App Service with Azure virtual networks
Design and implement network monitoring:
  • Monitoring networks with Azure Monitor
  • Monitoring networks with Azure Network Watcher
This course is designed for Network Engineers who want to specialise in Azure networking solutions. A Network Engineer for Azure designs and implements basic Azure network infrastructure, hybrid network connections, traffic load balancing, network routing, private access to Azure services, network security and monitoring. The Azure Network Engineer manages network solutions for optimal performance, resilience, scaling and security.
Successful Network Engineers for Azure start this position with experience in enterprise networks, on-premises or cloud infrastructure, and network security.
  • Understanding of local virtualisation technologies, e.g. VMs, virtual networks and virtual hard disks.
  • Understanding of network configurations, including TCP/IP, DNS (Domain Name System), VPNs (virtual private networks), firewalls and encryption technologies.
  • Understanding of software defined networks
  • Understanding of hybrid network connectivity methods, such as VPNs
  • Understanding of resilience and disaster recovery, including high availability and recovery operations
