This three-day course is primarily aimed at IT professionals who already have extensive experience in managing an on-premises Windows Server environment. This course covers advanced topics related to the software-defined Windows Server datacentre, Azure Stack HCI and other Azure Stack products. It also describes how to use existing Microsoft System Center products to deploy and manage software-defined data centres on Windows Server 2019. This course is designed for advanced users who want to run their virtual workloads on Windows Server 2019 at medium to large scale with a software-defined data centre and principles of hyperconvergence.

In this course, participants will gain the following skills:
  • Describe the Azure Stack portfolio, including Azure Stack HCI, Azure Stack Hub, and Azure Stack Edge.
  • Describe the Azure Stack HCI core technologies and management tools.
  • Describe the process of a typical Azure Stack HCI implementation.
  • Identify Azure Stack HCI hybrid capabilities.
  • Implement, manage and govern workloads on Azure Stack HCI.
  • Plan and implement Azure Stack HCI storage, including storage QoS and storage replication.
  • Plan the Azure Stack HCI network.
  • Implement software-defined networking on Azure Stack HCI.

This course is for IT professionals who want to manage on-premises Windows Server environments and use Azure to manage server workloads and run their virtual workloads on Windows Server 2019. They will also want to use existing Microsoft System Center products to deploy and manage software-defined data centres with Windows Server 2019.
  • Advanced level experience with managing Windows Server operating systems and virtualised Windows Server workloads in local scenarios.
  • Advanced level experience with common Windows Server management tools (already implied by the first prerequisite).
  • Advanced-level knowledge of key Microsoft technologies for computing, storage, networking and virtualisation
  • Advanced level knowledge of Windows Server-based computing and storage high availability technologies.
  • Basic experience of implementing and managing Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) services in Microsoft Azure.
  • Basic knowledge of Azure Active Directory (Azure AD)
  • Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Virtualisation security related technologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of PowerShell scripts and PowerShell DSC (Desired State Configuration)
